Why Everyone Should Go On A Retreat!

Why Everyone Should Go On A Retreat!

Now, clearly I’m bias, but this is not a sales pitch! This is my true, honest opinion and why we have set up this business. We are passionate about retreats and how they can change people’s lives,so obviously we think everyone should go on them!

We went on our first retreat in 2014. It was a juicing retreat with yoga, fitness and walks etc. When we told people where we were going and what we were doing for our ‘holiday’ people couldn't believe it. They couldn't believe we were paying to go somewhere that had no food or alcohol…and that we weren’t going to eat for a week. It didn’t put us off though as we knew we were doing the right thing for us, our body, and our mind. We ended up loving it and haven’t stopped talking about it since!

5 Rules To Smoothie Making

5 Rules To Smoothie Making

I love both juices and smoothies, they both have very different and great benefits. There’s so much variety with smoothies which makes them fun and exciting to make. Below are 5 rules I always stick to when making a smoothie. Often, when I recommend smoothies to my clients, they think I’m talking about just fruit smoothies, but that is not at all what I mean. If you make your smoothie with just fruit, you are more likely to get a blood sugar dip, as well as missing out on the opportunity to add nutrient packed veggies and superfoods!

6 Reasons To Go Organic

6 Reasons To Go Organic

Going organic is always the best choice when buying foods, many people know that, but why?

Here are my top 6 reasons for going organic-

  1. Avoiding chemicals - many people who are sceptical about organic foods state that they contain no more nutrients, so whats the point. There are some studies that show they do contain more nutrients, but there are also some that show they don't. However, the main reason I try and get people to buy organic is the fact there are no herbicides, pesticides or fungicides on or in the food. All these chemicals increase

The Importance Of Fermented Foods

The Importance Of Fermented Foods

Many traditional diets throughout the world include some form of fermented food. In Japan they use miso and kimchi, Germany it’s sauerkraut, Bulgaria it’s kefir, India it’s a lassi etc. Our ancestorsdiet was abundant in fermented foods, but what has happened? If you start talking about fermented food, many people will have no idea what you’re talking about, or think you’re talking about gone off, mouldy food!

Our ancestors used fermented foods to not only preserve foods, but to also help support our intestinal and overall health. We are seeing a rise in digestion and gastro-intestinal issues, but if we go back to this way of eating, many people would see a massive improvement.

So, what are the benefits?

Whole Grains - Why We Should Eat More!

Whole Grains - Why We Should Eat More!

Today the British Medical Journal released a study showing that a higher intake of whole grains are associated with a lower risk of major chronic diseases and death. Even a small increase in consumption could bring substantial health benefits. These diseases include cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, infectious and respiratory diseases.

There was a massive benefit seen in people who increased their intake from zero to two servings a day (about 32g of whole grain). Further reduction in risks were seen in people who consumed 7.5 servings a day (about 225g of whole grain).

Recipe - Raw Chocolate Brownie :-)

Recipe - Raw Chocolate Brownie :-)

On our retreats we always have dessert! I am a big dessert fan and I love to show people that you don't have to miss out when you have a healthy lifestyle! Many people force a healthy lifestyle and stay away from things they love, but that will just lead to disaster! You never want to force it, you want to enjoy it! You can still have your sweet treats but just change them to healthier options, using natural sugars.

The browns below are so delicious and quick to make. I make them if I'm super busy and have people coming over for dinner, or if we just want a sweet treat in the evening.

Enjoy :-)
